Bodmin Moor

from Feast of Magic by Abhi Ktori

/

lyrics

On Bodmin Moor in the month of May,
at rest beneath a tree,
the whitest stallion in all the earth,
came dancing along to me.

“I am your child so lately born,
that you’ve not chanced to see.
I’ve come to you on Bodmin Moor,
oh father welcome me.”

“Oh I have welcome in my heart,
but first tell me your name.
That I may wish your mother well,
and hope she feels the same.”

“My name is the very wind,
that blew you to this moor.
I bear the song of every child,
that ever passed before.”

“Oh child with tongue already free,
to rove the morning sky,
go from me now upon this moor,
and leave me your disguise.”

The horse flew ten times round the moon,
and drank it’s silver light.
Then galloped off into the sun,
and disappeared from sight.

We were born to be this free,
to dance away our chains.
In love and trust,
dance of the dust,
til only truth remains.
