Donna De Lory¹s timelessly evocative voice winds beguilingly through the deep textures and chilled-out grooves of contemporary electronica on her new album, simply titled Remixes. The disc finds the award-winning devotional pop singer partnering with cutting-edge remix artists like trance and downtempo luminaries Rara Avis, Desert Dwellers, Atom Smith and Eastern Sun, as well as Grammy-winner Dave Dale (Garden State soundtrack), on 11 revelatory and celebratory re-inventions of much-loved tracks from De Lory¹s landmark world devotional albums The Lover and the Beloved, Sky is Open and Sanctuary. But her prime collaborator on Remixes was producer Mac Quayle (Annie Lennox, Sting, Indigo Girls, Madonna, Christina Aguilera), whom De Lory first met in the 90s. “He¹s a great producer and yogi,” says De Lory. “Mac Quayle is very conscious of the spiritual power of music.”

Remixes charts an exciting new musical direction for De Lory, but also marks a return to her roots. “I started as a dancer,” she explains, “and dance was always part of my singing. So it feels very natural for me to be working in the dance music genre again."

De Lory spent 20 years as a backup singer and dancer with Madonna, recording and touring, singing on hit albums like Ray of Light and Like a Prayer – and growing her own worldwide fan base along the way). As a solo artist, she racked up several Top 10 dance hits. But over the years, she found herself increasingly drawn into the practice of yoga and the spiritual path: “So I ended up sitting on the floor playing harmonium,” she laughs. “I needed to do that for my spiritual practice. But now that¹s come full circle. This is where I¹m at now: opening hearts but getting people to dance as well.”

The gifted and versatile singer has been doing just that in a string of outstanding recent festival performances. She was invited to be part of the Lilith Fair concert series by Grammy-award winning artist Sarah McLachlan along with Terry McBride, the current CEO of the Nettwerk Music Group (with whom she released the acclaimed Sanctuary in 2009). "It was great to see my name with Emmylou Harris, Mary J Blige and so many other inspiring artists," De Lory recalls. "It gave me a great opportunity to perform for more mainstream and diverse audiences."

Remixes will appeal to a broad spectrum of music lovers. De Lory brings her strong pop sensibility to her lushly-conceived – and accessible -- mix of Western pop, Indian devotional music, Sanskrit mantras, North African grooves and psychedelic arrangements. Drawing from her rich spiritual practice and diverse musical inspirations, Donna is forging a unique devotional pop sound. The album's incandescent tracks bathe some of her most beautiful melodies in entrancing new shades and colors, recasting their spell for a new rainbow tribe of club kids, trance dancers, yogis, yoginis and pilgrims of the heart.

“Donna Rocks us again with the divine elixir of her extraordinary voice remixed with new music alchemy for yoga, dance and making love to life.” --Shiva Rea, yogini
