Best known as co-founder, along with David Life, of the Jivamukti Yoga Method and Jivamukti Yoga Center in New York City, Sharon teaches yoga as a spiritual path to enlightenment. On this second installment in our YOGA MASTERS series, Sharon offers this heavenly mix of divine women singers as an inspiring and complement to your asana practice.

The highest art is timeless and universal, and not restricted to the culture that created it. Music is the first art. Everything---all that is manifest---proceeds from sound. The aim of yoga is to realize sound as the source of creation. The Divine Mother is this creation made manifest and personified.

To understand the essence of creation is to understand the underlying harmony which resounds from sublime music; music that is able to touch everyone, reminding and uplifting us all toward the spiritual source of all. Through the Divine Mother the secrets of the universe are revealed and liberation is granted. She is the beloved Earth, the realm of manifest reality.

I have gathered an eclectic mix of near divine women singers who I felt would give a fair representation of what is going on in the 'yoga music world'. Of course there are far too many beautiful strong feminine voices to fit on a short CD. In truth there is only One Divine Mother, may the listener hear her many moods in the offering of these 11 songs.

The Divine Mother is the beloved Earth Herself. This world is perfect. Your Life is perfect. There is nothing to do but to rejoice in Her perfection. Sing Her Name and praise the wonder of her boundless compassion.
